Hi, I'm Sama.

Sama Eldesouki

Full Stack & AI Developer.

First Class Computer Science graduate, University of Birmingham. I build accessible tools, from fine-tuned language models to the interface.

Hi, I'm Sama.

I build systems that make tech more human. My final year project rewrites web pages in simpler English, on your own machine, using models I fine-tuned myself.

Alongside the degree I taught, ran STEM workshops, raised money for students and freelanced. I'm also into video editing and marketing: I've filmed and edited promo videos for the university and Food Fellows, and making edits is honestly one of my favourite things to do.

“Build what helps people. Automate what doesn't.”

The periodic table of my stack.

Things I've built.

From concept sites for small businesses to a final year AI project, team web apps, school lessons and a few things I can't talk about. Pick a panel to open it.

Concept site, 3D and frontend development

Brrr. Slush Co.

A website for a made-up Manchester slush bar, built around a 3D cup.

  • A 3D cup that changes flavour and fruit as you scroll
  • A mystery cup you shake for two random flavours
  • Menu, prices and a shop finder with live UK hours
  • UI design
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • Three.js
  • GSAP

Running a café or juice bar? I can build you a menu people want to scroll.

Final year project, NLP

LexiLift

A Chrome extension that rewrites any web page into simpler English at a CEFR level you choose (A2, B1 or B2). Nothing is sent to the internet: a local FastAPI backend serves the models.

  • Fine-tuned six models: T5-small and BART-base, each on raw, BERTScore-filtered and NLI-filtered data
  • The deployed T5 model scores 56.43 SARI and changes numbers in only 0.60% of outputs
  • A meaning gate rejects rewrites that drift too far, and an ONNX export runs 1.5 to 2 times faster on CPU
  • Python
  • PyTorch
  • Transformers
  • FastAPI
  • ONNX
  • Chrome MV3

The committee postponed its decision owing to insufficient evidence regarding the proposal's long-term viability.

Concept site, frontend design and development

Crumbwell

A website for a made-up East London bakery, designed and built to show what I can make for small food businesses.

  • A live bake board: drag the clock to see what's ready, then reserve it
  • UK and US editions with their own prices, currency and spelling
  • Order ahead, bread club, dark mode and reduced-motion support
  • UI design
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • GSAP
  • Lenis

Run a bakery, café or shop? I can design and build a site like this around how your customers actually buy.

HCI team project

RelAI

A dashboard that helps people keep their AI tool use in check, built with my Human-Computer Interaction team.

  • Daily limit dial, streaks and a usage heatmap
  • Reflection prompts and a clipboard sentiment check
  • Community and rewards pages to keep habits going
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind
  • Supabase
  • Recharts

Concept site, frontend design and development

Stemwright

A website for a made-up London florist, designed and built to show what I can make for independent shops.

  • A flower that opens as you scroll, drawn from 120 frames
  • A season board: drag through the year to see what's in bloom
  • Same-day delivery countdown, postcode checker, and UK and US editions
  • UI design
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • GSAP
  • Canvas

Selling flowers, gifts or anything seasonal? I can build you a site that changes with your stock.

Team project, full stack

Campus Connect

A full stack app that brings university events and user profiles into one place, built in a cross-functional student team.

  • REST API design and relational data modelling in PostgreSQL
  • Angular and TypeScript front end with role-based access control and dynamic routing
  • Accessible SCSS components, shipped on schedule and deployed to AWS
  • JHipster
  • Angular
  • TypeScript
  • Java
  • PostgreSQL

Optimisation in Python

MAXSAT and crew scheduling

Two pieces of evolutionary computation work, written from scratch in Python.

  • A population-based EA that satisfies as many MAXSAT clauses as it can within a time budget, with a WCNF parser, tuned on MAXSAT Evaluation 2017 benchmarks and Dockerised
  • Simulated annealing, a binary genetic algorithm and an improved BGA compared on three airline crew scheduling problems
  • Python
  • Genetic algorithms
  • Simulated annealing
  • Docker

Teaching, Year 10 Python

Cyber-Maze Hack and Pong

Pygame lessons where students fix a broken game to learn debugging. Each one comes with a worksheet of symptoms and hints.

  • Cyber-Maze Hack: 13 planted bugs, from an invisible player to frozen enemies
  • Pong: 6 bugs covering movement, scoring and ball speed
  • The maze here is the real level from the lesson, solved live with breadth-first search
